Today’s trance history lesson is brought to you by Mauro Picotto. If you’re new to the music you’d be wondering who da funk is this guy? Well let me tell you kiddo’s, Mauro is a dance music legend. He’s not producing any more but man he’s left a massive impression on the trance scene. I’ll wager my shirt that you’ve heard this song before in one form or another – especially the vocal bit. Sean Tyas is back with an anthem vocal track ‘Got Love’ featuring vocals from Nicole Mckenna. This 135 BPM track comprises of rolling bass, acidic lines and will surely be a hit in the European Summer. ‘Got Love’ receives B2B remixing treatment from Alex M.O.R.P.H & Woody van Eyden.

So I get this email a few weeks back

and i’m all like

I was so excited to do this interview because I love their productions and livesets!

Dash Berlin is actually a group of 3 dudes composed of Jeffrey Sutorious (the frontman who plays the livesets), Eelke Kalberg and Sebastiaan Molijn. They’re touring their latest album #MusicIsLife worldwide and they’re heading down under during the Queens Birthday long weekend (May 31st – June 9, 2013). The boys are promising the show will be a sound and visual extravaganza for fans. “It’s virtually impossible to make progress without the continuing support of the people,” Dash humbly says. “I can’t wait to play a long set and do my thing in Australia and return my thanks  to the fans.  It’s going to be special.”

ASOT 600 had just wrapped up and the Twitter drama was still fresh in my mind…so that was the one thing I wanted to get out of the interview.

Totally forgot about this awesome tune from 2003! It’s been given a face lift by Will Atkinson (The Will Atkinson 5000 remix) and Armin’s given it his thumbs up on ASOT 609. Snap Diggity this tune is the bomb – very fond memories it brings back. I remember slamming Lange’s Home Club Budapest March 2004 Set (a.k.a. Lange European March Tour 2004) over and over again and this track being one of the most memorable ones.

This amazingly crazy Norwegian producer Orjan Nilsen really knows how to produce a track. Recently we’ve seen him release No Saint Out of Me, remixed As We Collide and last year Burana, Copperfield and Endymion. His latest gem is Violetta which is creating a lot of buzz on the scene, being played recently on ASOT 610 and during Armin’s ASOT Miami set. Here at NTM, we also love the energy Orjan presents at his gigs!

Violetta will be released on May 6th through Armada.

Another big vocal track by Armin and Richard Bedford. The track is amazing – great melody and vocals. It’ starts off in a very “Richard Bedford” style – singing about lost lost in a melancholy mood,  then it turns around into hope and determination pretty quickly. Wicked track – awesome beat and Richard never does a bad job.

Armin and Aruna – what’s better than that? To think they’ve never teamed up before “Won’t Let You Go”, it’s crazy! This track is on Armin’s “Intense” album and it’s awesome! Aruna is one of my favourite trance vocalists of all time – never get sick of her voice!

The latest track to come off Solarstone’s Pure album is ‘Please’. From the start its a joy to listen to and Solarstone once again achieves to take his fans on a journey through melodic bliss. The track receives the ‘Pure’ remixing treatment from Solarstone and an uplifting spin from Bryan Kearney.

‘Please’ is released on April 15th through Blackhole Recordings.

This bangin’ tune was played to death at ASOT600 and it’s easy to see why!

Just days ago, we learnt that Armin was revisiting his “Armin Only” show with a 7-hour event being held in Amsterdam’s Ziggo Dome on November 15th of this year. Now with the release of a promotional video that came out today, we learn that the tour will indeed be “wordlwide” with dates being announced soon. Being dubbed as “Armin Only Intense – Catch Your Light” the tour will travel around the world starting in the Netherlands in November of this year and go right through into 2014 and is sure to get trance and Armin fans quite excited. This news is extra exciting as I’ve never personally seen an Armin Only event as well as the fact that Armin hasn’t visited our Australian shores in a couple of years.

Visiting the Armin Only website allows you to signup and be notified when tickets are available/announced.

As always, we’ll do our best to keep you informed of any announcements and confirmed tour dates.

We recently announced that Armin van Buuren, the world’s #1 DJ is releasing his 5th artist album by the name of “Intense” to be released on May 3rd. Armin himself has described the album as more “different” than anything he’s done before which will definitely be interesting.

The tracklist (see below) looks promising with tracks featuring Aruna and Richard Bedford. Whilst some are sceptical this will be a “commercial” style album with fear of Armin moving on to different genres and rumours of a dubstep track, we’ve already heard “This is What it Feels Like“, “Waiting for the Night“, “Forever is Ours“, and “Humming of the Lights” which are all very different in their own right indicating there could be “something for everyone” on this album.

I personally love all the tracks released so far (minus “This is What it Feels Like”) as well as “Who’s Afraid of 138?!” which was premiered at ASOT600 Den Bosch tonight – definitely a more trancey type tune (link to the track here). Interesting that “The Expedition” and “D# Fat” aren’t on the list but they’re on the A State of Trance 2013 compilation anyway.
