W&W Interview

>>Learn how EASY it is to be a DJ here<<

W&W Creamfields Australia 2012 TourComing down to Australia to blow our minds @ Creamfields 2012, we had the chance to have a quick one with Ward and Willem of W&W.

1. What are your two top tips for achieving a professional sounding mix?
-It sounds very cheesy and standard, but less is more!! The less sounds you use, the louder you can put them in the mix. Stereo imaging is also very important, if you spread the sounds there is more room for your kickdrum to come through.

2. Where do you guys draw your inspiration from?
-That can be anything. For instance if we hear something on the radio or listen to the music in a movie. New samplepacks and soundsets are also very inspiring!

3. What do you think 2012 has installed for trance?
-It’s getting harder and harder to define trance. All genres are getting so close to each other and producers are combining a lot of different sounds. For instance you can hear a lot of trance influences in house and the other way around. So we think 2012 is going to be a good and innovative year for trance music.

4. Who is your favourite vocalist to work with?
-We haven’t worked with that many vocalists so it’s hard for us to judge about that. The recent tune we did with Bree called ”Nowhere To Go” is doing really good and although we didn’t meet her yet she was great to work with.

5. What is your favourite all time song, trance or not?
-Willem: Hans Zimmer & Lisa Gerard – Now We’re Free, one of the most beautiful pieces of music around.
-Ward: Imogen Heap – Hide n Seek. No matter how stressful, angry or sad I am, this song always makes me feel relaxed.

6. What do you think every DJ should possess?
-His own style! And in material terms a MacBook. You can’t live without one of those nowadays.

7. Favourite gig so far?
-It’s so hard to choose one of all the great gigs we did, but ASOT 550 in Buenos Aires was definitely one of the best ones, such a special vibe!

8. What do you think of the DJ Mag Top 100 poll?
-Mixed feelings. It’s difficult, if not impossible, to compare all dj’s from all different genres. But of course we’re very happy to be in there on spot #36, it’s great to see so many people supporting us!

Thanks guys! Can’t wait to hear your play :)
