Big Shout Out to Everyone
Heyo everyone! It’s been 7 months since we’ve started and I just wanted to show my appreciation to the readers of NTM. So here’s a BIG THANK YOU to you all!
I also wanted to share how far we’ve come since we began:
Knowing that people actually read this site is what keeps us going ;)
We’ve also got some big plans coming up, massive site redesign rolling out in the next few months. We’re very open to suggestions and ideas, so drop us a line! We’re all about open dialogue here.
Tiesto – Kaleidoscope. Kaleidofail.
**EDIT**
Despite the terrible album, hearing it LIVE and in the flesh…truely was one of the better experiences of my clubbing career. I’m not going to go back and change what i’ve said about Kaleidoscope because I honestly do feel it to be a terrible album, but I will say that hearing the tracks live is something off this world. If you get a chance, see Tiesto and experience Kaleidoscope Live; it’s just not the same at home.
Firstly, I tried to give it an honest listen, I really really did. I gave every track at LEAST 3 listens (except Louder Than Shit) with my awesome headphones, so it’s not like I was distracted by anything else.
Secondly, i’m all for artists changing genres. You can’t eat porridge every day, so I assume that goes for producing music too. At some point you get over making the same sounds. Yeah great, fantastic, all up for change. But when you change you’d better make something awesome. This was not the case here. Kaleidoscope is BORING. Boring in the sense that it has already been done before. It IS your typical electro music, all of it. It is cheese. It is mainstream, it is for the radio. You know what it sounds like? Those shitty dance remixes of songs you hear on the radio.
It’s not like I dislike the entire album. I actually like Feel It In My Bones & Not The Things You Say and that’s because I like Tegan and Sara’s voice, as well as that dude from Bloc Party. Their voices are amazing are the only thing carrying those tracks.
It’s the kind of album you want to play at a party – no one really cares what’s playing in the background, or pays enough attention, but it sort of fills the void. So if you like Ministry of Sound – The Annual, you’ll love Kaleidoscope. You muzza piece of trash.
Classic Fridays: Veracocha – Carte Blanche
Trance anthems don’t get any bigger than Verachocha – Carte Blanche. Vincent De Moor and Ferry Corsten partnered to create this massive tune in 1999. This track has seen countless remixes, such as the very recent Cosmic Gate remix, and is still used in many sets today.
JPL – Waking Up With You
Dooo doo doo doo doo doo doo! Very catchy and uplifting tune from JPL, a.k.a. Joni Peter Ljungqvist.
Rafael Frost – Black Box
Rafaël Frost, the man behind the fantastic tune Red, delivers another massive stadium track – Black Box. You can imagine what this would ‘bring up’ in a rave :p. I’m getting chills down my spine just thinking about it.
Keep up the fantastic work Rafaël!
