Cream: Twice in a Blue Moon Tour

Ferry Corsten - Twice in a Blue Moon

Woooo what a night! Ferry Corsten and Giuseppe Ottaviani rocked the fucking house down! Betsie Larkin was also amazing live. Lovely gold dress, beautiful lady with a beautiful voice.

Got there at 10 to see Giuseppe kick start the event with a low pop venue. Was quite disappointed that the event didn’t sell out the first release tickets. Sydney just doesn’t appreciate good trance. They walled off the two side-stands of the hordern, leaving the main floor, the stage and the back sitting area. Giuseppe set the mood for the night, playing some delicious tunes from his album Go!

As the clock drew closer to 11pm, the venue was packing out nicely and we were greeted with a massive display of a blue moon while Shelter Me played in the background, setting up the suspense for Ferry to appear. A minute or two later Ferry popped his head out of nowhere and the show kicked off!

First memorable song he played was Black Velvet with a live performance by Julie Messenger. I don’t remember a thing wrong with the track selections or the mixing, it was a solid performance by Ferry. Other songs to note include:

Feel Me
Brainbox
Radio Crash
Gabriella’s Sky
Shanti
Twice in a Blue Moon
We Belong
Made of Love – wow this was amazing live. We were actually outside chilling out and taking a break when I heard that initial made of love beat and made everyone run inside :D

Ferry being the crowd pleaser that he is, dropped Punk and Rock Your Body Rock, as well as Fire. Made my night when these songs came on! The last half hour was filled with classics such as Gouryella and Out of the Blue.

What a night!

Ilya Soloviev – Universal Universe (Poshout Club Mix)

Russian trance DJ Ilya Soloviev first came onto the scene with Love Summer, a colloboration with Paul Miller. Check out a track released a few months back, heavily played in many sets and especially A State of Trance, called Universal Universe. This is the Poshout Club Mix and i’m loving the use of chopped vocals here, it’s my favourite technique used in trance tracks :)

Ilya and Poshout have done it again with this magnificent trance track called Leaving Planet. More chopped vocals, more progressive build ups :D This song is all about summer for me, sweet chilled tunes for those lazy days besides the beach. Keep up the good work Ilya and Poshout!

Tribute: Ferry Corsten

With only a few days away until Ferry Corsten and Giuseppi Ottaviani play Cream: Twice in a Blue Moon Tour, NewTranceMusic is dedicating this post to the legendary man himself. Our authors are picking their favourite Ferry song and what they love most about them.

Ian: My pick is of course, Beautiful. Why? The lyrics are simple yet stunningly elegant. While the production isn’t anything ground-breakingly new (but what is in trance really?), most importantly I chose this song because it represents what TRANCE means to me. It’s the way it makes you feel, the way it can change your moods depending on the song. It’s the way that everything is fucking beautiful when you’re with your loved ones and best friends. “There’s no where else i’d rather be, when you’re lying next to me, let the music carry us together”. Amen, Ferry and Debra Andrews. Amen.

Nguyen: It’s quite tough to choose a favourite song so I’m going with the two that get me pumped up the most.
1. System F vs Armin van Buuren – Exhale. 2 masters of trance working together to make a great track and that unique first sound you hear right at the start of the track is so recognisable.

2. Radio Crash. The first single off ‘Twice in a Blue Moon’ was the song I listened to just before having such a great time at Summafieldayze 09, so this brings back fond memories. :)

Matthew: Punk, Punk and Punk. Oh and Punk. First heard it on an ad on T.V. as apart of some compilation disc. From then on I was hooked onto trance! Punk is the reason I love trance.
